This is what I may have have on the family you requested. I haven't been able to prove a connection to this family yet. I think there may be but again I haven't been able to prove it so I have left it hanging in my file.
I hope this helps some of you.
Descendants of Thomas Rutledge
Generation No. 1
1. THOMAS1 RUTLEDGE was born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and died in Augusta Co., Virginia. He married JEAN ARMSTRONG in County Tyrone,Northern Ireland, daughter of JAMES ARMSTRONG.
Notes for THOMAS RUTLEDGE:
March 10, 1999 -- I have just detached Thomas from George and Nellie Gamble Rutledge. It wasn't proven that there was any relationship at this point anyway. Plus the dates just don't match up with the Will of Thomas husband of Jean. I will have to find more source information to straighten things out, in the meantime I think there is some connection but I don't know what it is yet to either Armstrong or Rutledge in my file.
Other sources given to me by Jim Small of Peoria IL.... (1705-1791)
1. LDS Virginia IGI index lists all the children born in VA, parents are listed with them. index pages are from 27,938 to 27,944. It also does not list the marriage of the parents since they were born and married in Ireland. The first four children also are not listed.

Thomas Young was born c1765/66 in Virginia. He died c1795 in Washington Co., TN. Thomas Young married in Virginia prior to October 10, 1785, Mary Rutledge b. c1768, died after July 7, 1810.* She was the daughter of Thomas Rutledge and Jean Armstrong of Augusta Co., VA. Her father’s will (Thomas Rutledge) is from Augusta Co., VA Will Book VII, p 378, dated October, 10, 1785. An abstract of the will:
Thomas Rutledge - planter - to wife, Jean, executrix and sons James and Edward, executors; to wife Jean, apprentice boy, John Fogle; Negro wench, Chloe, to choose which son she will live with: James, John, Thomas, Edward; to sons Thomas and Edward the home plantation; to sons James and John, lands in Botetourt Co., on Roanoke, on North Fork; to sons Thomas and Edward 100 acres in South Carolina on branch of Fishing Creek; to all four sons; to daughter Katarina Rutledge; to son George Rutledge, 1 shilling to daughter Elizabeth Armstrong; 1 shilling to daughter Anna Henderson; 1 shilling to daughter Mary Young; 1 shilling to daughter Jean Brooks. Teste: Patrick Buchanan, Henry Marshall. Proved 21st June 1791 by the witnesses. Jean Rutledge appeared and refused to execute. Other executors qualified.
The following abstract will be of interest to the descendants of Thomas and Mary Rutledge Young:
Augusta County, VA Will Book 3, p 260, dated June 2, 1762 - the Will of James Armstrong names Jean Rutledge (Mary Rutledge Young’s mother) as a daughter. Others named as heirs were: James Armstrong, Thomas Rutledge, George Rutledge, and Elizabeth Armstrong.
It is evident that Thomas and Mary R. Young were buried in Washington Co., TN, as this was where they died. However, the location of their graves is unknown.
See deeds, wills, inventories, settlement of estate, etc. at the end of this chapter.
The five children of Thomas and Mary R. Young were: James W.; Jean Young Davis; Catherine Young; William Rutledge Young and Mary Young Ward.
