Hi Rutledge:

I think we share a common line. If I'm correct, you are a descendant of McPherson Gregorie Elliott and Jane T. Holmes, daughter of Charles Rutledge Holmes. I am also a direct descendant of Charles Rutledge Holmes, which is where the "Rutledge Holmes" in your maternal g'father's name, Rutledge Holmes Elliot, is derived. Anyway, I too am unable to actually link up the Rutledges and was wondering if you have had any luck. If you are interested. my Holmes descent is: Francis Holmes> Hon. Isaac Holmes> Isaac Holmes, Jr. > John Bee Holmes > Charles Rutledge Holmes > Charles Rutledge Holmes, Jr. (this is where you split off- his daughter married your M.G. Elliott, MD) > Allan Turnbull Holmes > Allan Turnbull Holmes, Jr. > Allan Riley Holmes > Allan Riley Holmes, Jr (me).
