Hello,
I am not related to this Rutledge family, nevertheless I have some information on them, which I have identified as file R-JA-007. My information was obtained from Census, online postings, etc. It has been several years since I worked on this line, but I'll share what I have:
1860 Lincoln Co TN Census, p. 44-A, James Rutledge, 40
1870 Lincoln Co TN Census, p. 219-B, James Rutledge, 51
1880 Lincoln Co TN Census, p. 81-C, James Rutledge, 27
I was unable to locate them in the 1850 Census, but suspect they were in Lincoln Co. TN or an adjacent county, and their Census entry was not identified properly thereafter.
James, b. ca. 1820 NC, appears in 1860, and 1870, but not the 1880 Census.
James married twice, first wife I know nothing about, but she likely died in the late 1840's.
Children by first wife:
1 - Phebe Elizabeth, b. ca. 1840 TN, who you said married P. O. George. She is at home in the 1860 Census.
2 - Mary, b. ca. 1842 TN, at home in the 1860 Census.
3 - Margaret, b. ca. 1845 TN, at home in the 1860 Census, occupation spinner.
James' second wife: Sarah Brady, b. ca. 1820 TN, married 10 Feb 1848 Lincoln Co TN, in 1860 and 1870 Census, occupation spinner.
Children by Sarah:
4 - Philander (f), b. ca. 1849 TN, at home in 1860 Census.
5 - Sarah F., b. ca. 1851 TN, at home in 1860 & 1870 Census.
6 - James N., b. ca. 1853 TN, at home in 1860 & 1870 Census, married Francis, b. ca. 1853 TN, in 1880 Census with daughter Sarah E., b. ca. Aug 1879 TN.
7 - Alpheus T., b. ca. 1855 TN, at home in 1860 & 1870 Census, at home of James and Francis in 1880 Census.
