The comparison with the other Surnames in the Border Reivers Study is especially interesting.
This morning I took some time from trying to make sure each and every Paper Trail I am pursuing is correct to make a small comparison from the published results.
A RUTHERFORD from the Borders of Scotland and a RUTHERFORD from Aberdeen {The Highlands} were found in the 12 Marker Results:
Five {5} Markers Off - NO RELATIONSHIP SHOWN
A JOHNSTONE from Dumbfries {The Borders} and a JOHNSTON from Aberdeen {The Highlands} were found in the 12 Marker Results:
Eleven {11} Markers Off - NO RELATIONSHIP SHOWN
Even in these first beginnings of the Reivers Study it is causing Headlines in Scotland:
"Reivers Roots May Not Be Scottish At All" as published in THE SCOTSMAN, Wednesday 25th August 2004.

While I must leave it to the Scientists who are doing the work I must admit I am in complete Awe & Wonder at this new Genealogical Tool.
