Hi Paulyne
I have been collecting info from various sources on the internet for the last two years and I have a wealth of info on several RUTHERFORD members. Most times I have also included my original source with my notes but occasionally I have not. In this case I do not have a source for the following data. I apologize to the original author for not giving him/her credit, but hopefully they will understand that I have not taken this info to make a profit. I used it for my own research into the origins of my RUTHERFORD line and I am sharing it freely. Perhaps you already have the following data; if so then disregard. If not, then I hope it helps you. I do have more re James b 1791 so if you want I could forward it to you or post the rest on this forum.
Take care
Karen

*Notes I have on James:
James Rutherford mad application for bounty land 3/1/1851 in Jackson Co, AL. He declared he had served in the war against the Creek Indians in the regiment commanded by Colonel Samuel Bunch. He stated he had volunteered for service at Knoxville, TN in October of 1813 and was discharged in January 1814 having served in the company commanded by Captain William John. As such, James served as a private in the East Tennessee Volunteers, a mounted regiment. James Rutherford again made application for bounty land om 3/14/1856. His sons Archibald and Joseph W. Rutherford, both residents of Jackson County, Alabama, were witnesses to his signature
James Rutherford was enumerated on the 1830 - 1860 census reports, inclusive, as a resident of Jackson County, Alabama. According to the 1880 census report his son Archibald was born in Georgia in 1817.
James Rutherford named nine of his children in his will and appointed his son F. Marion Rutherford and his son-in-law Thomas B. Wood as executors of his estate. His will was probated 10/7/1861 Jackson County, Alabama.
