THIS INDENTURE made the 17th January in the Tenth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereign Lord George the Second MDCCXXXVI Between JOHN RUTHERFORD and MARY his Wife of St. Ann's Parish in Essex County of one part and WILLIAM SHORT of the same Parish & County Witnesseth that said John Rutherford & Mary his Wife for sum Six thousand weight of Tobacco to them hath granted unto sd William Short his heirs and assigns for ever a certaine parcel of land taken up by NICHOLAS COPELAND by Pattent dated 21st April 1690 containing One hundred and seventy acres being in the Parish and County aforesd begining at a marked hickory corner tree to WILLIAM GIBSON decd and running along the sd Gibson's line South by East to Popman Swamp thence up the same South by East its several courses being brought into a Streate line is North West to line of marked trees of WILLIAM BOULWARE thence along sd line North to the first mentioned beginning...
