Sandra: This is my file for Jack Brunson. somne is updates since posting in early Sept. 2000. My interest was to disclose why the Rueben Brunson family elected to come to Johnson Couny,TX in 1890. Research had disclosed that Cynthia was there in previous years. It seems to me that she came because her brother Samuel was there and she was a widow. The Rueben Brunson family came to Eagen which is 6 miles north of Alvarado in Johnson County, TX. I was told they spent their first few days with friends there to recover from the train ride from Cherokee, Al. I have a long record for the Brunson family fdor those that might be interested. Joe Robinson jarob@txucom.net.

Notes for SAMUEL RUTHERFORD:
Sam farmed in the community of Alvarado in Johnson County, and he and Lizzie had 7 children. Sam was a song leader in the Baptist Church, according to his daughter, Allie, and died of typhoid pneumonia, according to his granddaughter, Eva. Samıs unexpected death left his wife to raise the 5 surviving children, including Hassie, who was just one week old at the time of her fatherıs death. Sam is said to have been a High Mason, but no record has been found to support this contention. He is buried close to Grandview and Alvarado in the Stubblefield Cemetery northeast of Cleburne on the road to Maypearl. A review of a detailed map indicates that there is a cemetery about 2 miles east of Grqndview on Farm Road 916 and opposite County Road 205 where it dead ends into 916.

My wife's family tree has a Rutherford branch. Most of my information
comes from correspondence in the files of my deceased mother-in-law.
Our Samuel Rutherford had a brothers HENRY, William, and sisters Amanda,
Cynthia, and Sarah. Sam died about 1884 in Alvarado, which is in Johnson

Alabama after 1860. Posted by: Frank Butcher Date: December 14, 1997
