Barbara, Thanks so much for the Rutan/Depue family data. I had always thought the one referred to as T. J. and Jefferson were one and the same. You found Enos and Orpha (Depue) Bennett married and in sandyston by 1850 with dau Josephine, 2 months old. She married an I. A. Reichardt and lived in Scranton, PA. Bet that's where Enos was a boarder in 1900. In the 1870 Census of Jessup Twp. Fam # 59 (aparently living on the Fairdale - Fair Hill Road): Bennett, Enos age 42 wagonmaker born NJ Orpha age 38 born NJ Joseph age 20 born NJ Nettie age 18 born NJ George age 6 born NJ Then in the 1885 census, Jasper Co., Iowa, Colfax Twp. : E.O. Bennett age 56 Wagonmaker born NJ Bennett, O age 52 born PA Bennett, G.B. age 21 born NJ My g grandmother did not mention George in her write up of her family history. I believe he died before 1896 near Baxter, Iowa, but can't find anything. G grandma also said Enos' parents John and Christina (Davenport) Bennett are buried in Jasper Co., Iowa but I can't find them. I'm fairly new to the internet so have lots to learn. I'll keep plugging along as best I can. My primary interest is the descendents of Rev. War Vet Matthew and Jannetje (Tappen) McKeeby. Matthew once operated a tavern in Sussex Co.where there is now a traffic circle at the end of the bridge from Milford, PA. More details on Matthew in my posting of Aug 9 2004 on the McKeeby forum. Big family, 84 grandchildren! Again thank you for your help. Don Notify Administrator about this message?
