hi, according to ellis island manifest, my great grandfather Giovanni Russo came to America on Feb. 21 1894. He came from Naples, Sicily, however, i dont think that was his town of origin, i just think thats where the boat left from. According to family history, he went to New Orleans to be with his sister. (name not given) in 1895 or 1896, he witnessed a lynching of some italian prisoners and left post haste and settled in Chicago.( Forest Park to be exact) he married my greatgrandmother (possibly named Rosa) and had these children: Marian, Carlo, Rosalinda (or Rosalina died in childhood) and my grandmother Antonina (Americanized to Antonette) i believe there were other children, but cant remember right now. Antonette amrried a german man named Tregler and had my uncle then had my mother Mary by a Mexican man named Jesse Ibarra (Ybarra). whew. i guess i'm done. if any of these names sound familiar, please email me at [email protected]
