I am in desperate need of Information regarding the surname FRA!
I have very little information as this is my Great, Great Grandfather.
His name was Custava or Gustav (Gustaff) Alexander Fra
We estimate his date of birth around 1856,
Born In Russia,
Apparently somewhere near Finland but I can’t find where this would be.
Or Possible moved to Finland early in life due to war or conflict.
The first record I have of him is in Australia in 1891, age about 35 years
When he married my GG Grandmother in Queenstown, Tasmania, Australia.
He worked on a shipping boat sometime in his late teens to his 20's,
Defiantly before 1891, this boat (Ship) possible traveled between Russia and America or America abroad.
The family story goes he worked this ship for a while, it departed America for China or Australia (Unknown) for sure, But at some stage it ported into Australia.
Apparently, He liked Australia so much he wanted to stayed,
With the Captains best wishes (as previously he had saved the captains wife from drowning) (Where & when Unknown) He left the ship & started his life in Australia.
Please if anyone has any knowledge of the family name Fra in Russia or the Finland or Even a Ship with a crew member By the Above names in Australia, America or Russia
Please I would appreciate any information. Any information about this surname, or this family or location, really any thing PLEASE, as I have searched for 5 years with no luck.
