How to make heads and tails from the locations that are listed on your ancestor's US documents that Norbert on Poland's Genforum board found. I do think that the church the couple were married and the children's church baptismal record should give you yet another spelling of a place of birth that we might be able to find on some old map.

There is a WW I Draft Registration Card for Alex “Kvnetchko”. He was born in August 1894 in “Chappi Vilda”, Russia.
1. is Vilna incorrectly written as Vilda?

He listed his Place of birth as “Capi”, Poland.
2. Chappi same as Capi. Both written by a clerk as heard.

He listed “Trabin”, Russia as his last residence and his father Andrzej as his nearest relative in his native land. He indicated that he was born in “Szapon”.

3. Is Chappi/Capi same as Szapon?

The same passenger’s Hamburg emigration passenger record has him listed as Alexander “Kuriszko”. They indicate that his last residence was “Tiabew”.
Knriskv, Alexander Trab..., Russia 20 1893 1913 [going to friend Piotr KRIMAR, So.River NJ; Russia Szapan/Szapun' father's name is Andrzej [Andrew] KURISZK in Tiabew
