I need some help with my family tree. My Maternal Great Grand Parents were Harry and Rose Markowitz.
Harry: Born: 15 May 1882 in “Russia” Died: 4 Apr 1974 in Long Beach, NY, he’s buried in Mt. Hebron; Arrived to Ellis Island Between 1902-1906
Rose: Born: 30 Sep 1885 in “Russia” Died: Circa 28 Sep 1956 in Brooklyn, NY; Arrived: 1905/1906 in Ellis Island; Buried in Mt. Hebron
They mainly lived in Brooklyn, NY
Harry worked in a Pultry Store
Their kids:
Benjamin Markowitz Born: 12 Apr 1911 in Brooklyn Died: abt May 1970 in around Merrick, NY
Kate Lillian Markowitz Shapiro/Miller: Born: 20 Apr 1913 in Brooklyn, NY Died: 8 Apr 1987 in Hallandale, FL, buried in New Montefiore Cemetery, NY
Edward/Eddie Markowitz: Born: 23 Sep 1919 in Brooklyn, NY Died: 22 Sep 1971 in Flushing, Queens, NY Buried in Mt. Hebron
I don’t have their Birth/death records with the parents names on it or location of where they were from, but I believe the cousins are from Horodisch, Ukraine - and are all buried in Mount Hebron -under HORODISCHER BROS Society-which means that they are from Horodisch, Ukraine and most likely related.
Relatives Surnames include: Slotnick, Grodinsky, Michael, Smith, Gabriel, Shaprio/Miller, and of course Hersh(me)
We are really trying to find relatives(Siblings/Parents/Cousins/Etc.) of Harry and Rose, especially Rose’s maiden name, or naturalization papers. Or if they changed their names when they came over to the US.
Any help would be great!
