Bringing a message from Pennsylvania's board to this board for me to follow up.
Dear Chari,

Based on Walter's clever finds, I searched Ellis Island via Steve Morse's gold form and found a promising person for your Mary.

Indexed at Ellis Island as Mary (although Marya on the manifest) Karbowinczek arrived on the SS George Washington on December 24, 1912 and was going to her sister in Scranton, Pa. There are markings indicating applying for naturalization in 1940 and her father was listed as Hryc in Krajna by Dobromil, Galicia.

Then I looked for last names starting Karb from towns starting Kra via the gold form and found a Stefan KARBOWNICZUK family also going to Scranton in 1912.

But the very best was from a typed 1921 manifest for Anna Karbowoniczek going to her brother in law Stive (sic) Markowith Taniskort 535 Taylor, Pa!!!!! She was coming from her mother Eva in Kraja Poland.

I haven't provided all details from the manifest so you'll want to check them out yourself.

Enjoy,
Karen
