Svetlana, Thankyou for your reply and the information. The village you mentioned definitely sounds like the same one on Google maps. The other - Karbinska and Corviet a mystery. Karbinska is the spelling that was used and the pronunciation also we have on a tape recording of my grandmother speaking. I will email the State Archives of Tomsk, thank you for the address. Does the message need to be translated into Russian or is English OK?
