REV. RUSK returned from Nebraska Friday having been called there by the death of his father.

The revival meetings at the M.E. Church carried on by a corps of the Salvation Army are being well attended and growing in interest.

MISS SUSIE SHIRER of Knoxville is spending a week with relatives in Russell.

W.J. GROSS of Clarinda was greeting old friends in Russell Sunday.

MISS FLORENCE CURRIER of Indianola, who has been visiting friends in Melrose, came Wednesday to visit MRS. NINA GOODE.

MISS EMMA JACKLEY very pleasantly entertained a number of friends Monday evening.

MR. and MRS. OLIVER LOVETT of Corydon visited a few days with their daughter, MRS. FRED GOLTRY, while on their way home from Illinois.

NELLE KNOWLTON was a Chariton visitor Saturday.

MISS EDNA SUTTON of Corydon visited over Sunday with ANNA ELLIOTT.

JERRY and JOHN CADAGAN visited over Sunday at the CADAGAN home.

MRS. JULIA MAY of Confidence was buried Thursday in the Evans Graveyard.

The election held for the extension of the corporation carried 89 to 35. The citizen's ticket elected JAS. JEFFRIES and O.A. PACE for Councilmen.

DR. H.B. SUTTON and wife of Chariton spent Sunday at the ELLIOTT home.

MISS HARRIETT DE LANO came down from Des Moines Saturday evening for a week at home.

Elder EMMONS closed a very successful meeting at Confidence Sunday evening, there having been thirty-five accessions to the church.

MISS MINNIE WARNER, who has been visiting NELLE RUSK, left Tuesday for Des Moines.

GEO. POWERS of Chariton was transacting business in Russell Friday.

The Russell corps of teachers attended the Teachers' Association in Chariton Saturday.

MAUDE RICKEY took the teacher's examination in Chariton Thursday.

SHERMAN POST left Wednesday for National City, Cal.

BERT COLES, who has been working in Ottumwa, returned to Russell Tuesday.

MISS MAY JENKINS entertained a number of lady friends Tuesday evening.

MISS LOLA HART of Rapids City, S.D., is visiting MISS FERN SPRAGUE.

The school meeting for the election of teachers for the coming year was held Saturday evening. The entire corps was re-elected.

MISS NELLE RUSK returned to her work in Indianola Tuesday.

IRA COLES, who has been spending several years in the West, came in from Sacramento Tuesday evening, very pleasantly surprising his parents.

The MISSES ELMA WERTS and ARTIE HELLYER were Chariton visitors Thursday and Friday.

JOHN FOGG of Boulder, Col., returned Tuesday after a visit at the WOODMAN home.

BILL MCGRATH of Melrose was in town Saturday.

MRS. FLORENCE CHILDS and daughter WINNIE, were transacting business in Chariton Saturday.

The friends of CHAS. KAHOA, who went to El Paso, Texas, for his health, were sorry to learn that instead of improving he has grown worse and is now in a very low condition with consumption.

DAVID MCINTIRE, who is ill with heart trouble, still continues in a very critical condition.

The Russell teachers leave Thursday morning to attend the Southeastern Iowa Teachers' Convention to be held in Oskaloosa Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week.

SAM SHOWALTER of Confidence was in Russell Saturday.
