Shreiff Will Rushing and Tom Rushing his brother and deputy that was killed by a murderer during an arrest attempt there in 1913 were both sons of Zebulon Thomas Rushing (1854-1922) and Jonie Yarbrough or Yarberry. As you know they were officials in the county and mostly went by their middle names. There were thirteen siblings in the sheriff's family.

Zebulon comes from Montgomery County, Alabama and is a son of Oliver Hazard Perry Rushing (1828-1865) and Irene E. Weaver. There are some biographies of these families on Rootsweb as those families have been well researched.
