An article appeared in my local paper recently about Stanley Rushing. I will scan to anyone sending me an email at my posted email address.
Stanley (according to the SUN-TIMES, CLEBURNE CO ARKANSAS article by SIDNEY GRIFFIN, a descendant) was born in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co TN in 1826. In 1848 he was living on a farm in Madison Co TN adjacent to his father, Phillip Rushing and his grandfather, Jacob Rushing. His first child, JAMES, was born there in 1848.
In 1851 he migrated to Hickman Co KY where his next three children were born. Their names were JACOB ALLEN, MALINDA JANE, WILLIAM, PHILLIP, SILAS, AND GEORGE. JAMES died as a teenager. His last child was born in VAN BUREN CO AR where Stanley moved with his family in 1855.
In May of 1861 he was at the land office in Batesville, Independence Co AR to lay claim to land at NE quarter, SE quarter section 19, TWP 9N, R10W. The land was in what is now the Hopewell community and not far from Rose Bud, White Co AR.
