John Paul Rushing and Phillip J. Rushing were both born c1770-1780. They married sisters Penniah and Millie Gaddy. How was Phillip J related to John Paul? The Gaddys and the Wards have a long connection going back to Edgecombe County before 1790. They migrated to Anson County, NC together and then between 1820 and 1830 my ancestors of these lines migrated to Tennessee together. In 1820 living in Bennett, Anson County, NC is Thomas Ward SR 45+ Browns Creek is written after his name. Several Rushing families are listed in Bennett John G., Phillip J. His son John Darling married Louisa Ward a daughter of Thomas Ward in Nov. 1820. Thomas Ward has a son Thomas J Ward Jr. born 1806. By 1830 they are in an area of Humpherys that later became Benton County, TN. (I grew up there) Deed records show younger Thomas J. Ward's land joins land of Phillip J. Rushing. Phillip J. and Thomas Ward are listed side by side in the 1830 Humphreys County census. By 1840 Phillip J. has moved to Stewart County, TN and Jonathan J Rushing is living next to Thomas Ward. I descend from both Jonathan J. and Thomas Ward. My other Ward ancestor a cousin of Thomas also has ties to the Rushings. Any information on any of these people appreciated.
