Frederick William Rushbrooke was my grandfather and his mother married a Mr. Roe (could be Rowe). As a child I remember visiting his mother and recall her year of birth as 1869. The reason my grandfather was not given the name of Roe was that his mother was determined the Rushbrooke name should continue. I can only imagine she had a great deal of pride in the name.
I was interested to see your enquiry and would appreciate any further information you have gathered.
My father is Dennis Alexander Rushbrooke.
