My Martin John Ruoff was born Dec. 16, 1837 in Wurtenberg, Germany and left there in 1854. He went to PA. he married Phebe bedell in Balmount, PA on Feb. 17,1866. I know his 4th child was born in Woodstock Twp., Lenawee Co., MI in Jul.1872. So sometime between 1866 and 1872 he and his wife moved to MI.
They are both died in Devils Lake,(thats the name of a town) MI.

I found a map of Germany on the internet from 1815 and it spells the state Wurtemberg. I also found something from an encyclopedia That says: "Wurttemberg, former state, SW Germany.. Wurttemberg was formerly also spelled Wurtemberg, and Wirtemberg." When Martin left Germany it was Wurtemberg, but later it was combined with another state and is now called Wurttemberg-Baden. I just found this out yesterday but I'm sure you know all about it already. I'm brand new to this!
