My grandfather Martin Ruoff was born Dec 16, 1837 in Wurtenberg, Germany to John and Ursula Lieisht Ruoff. He married Phebe Bedell of Pennsylvania Feb. 17, 1866 after his discharge from the Civil War. She was the daughter of Zachariah Bedell. They moved to Lenawee County Michigan, Woodstock twp., in 1871. They lived there until their deaths.
