Since my post in 2005, I have found the connection of our Frederick Ruff, mentioned in my original post to the other Ruff families in Fairfield and Hocking Counties, Ohio as I was sure that there was one. He was a cousin as evidenced by his birth record I found in the church records of the Evangelical Lutheran church of the village of Dobel in the Black Forest Region of Wurrtemburg. I found his birth record on one of many microfilms I rented from my local Family History center. He is not connected to the families that either of you mentioned.
