I haven't been able to prove that Elnathan Rundle was the father of my James Rundle/Rundles but he seems the most likely. The story in the family is that James changed his name from Rundle to Rundles when he got married. He went to the Cortland and Cayuga County area of New York with a Knapp family from Orange County when he was quite young and apparently lost contact with the relatives back home. At that time, (between 1800 and 1805) Elnathan seems to have been the only Rundle of the right age in Orange County to have been his father. James lived in Genoa, Cayuga County, and Virgil, Cortland County, which are both close to Danby, Tompkins Co. where Elnathan may have been living in 1810 (listed in the census as "Elnathan Reynolds".) James married Sylvia Tuller about 1805. She was from Simsbury, Conn. If you have any information that might help prove or disprove any of this, please let me know.
