Greetings Julie and all other Rumph Descendants,

Has the Rumphs in Ohio mystery been solved? I too am in Ohio and descend from a branch of Rumphs in Alabama. I had a great grandmother named Lovie Rumph who married a Will Williams sometime in early 1890s. Lovie and Will had a son that they named Jafus williams in 1903. Jafus was my maternal grandfather. According to my grandfather Jafus, his mother Lovie's father was named Isum (his spelling) Rumph from Alabama. I believe Isham and his wife Mildred were Lovie's parents. However my grandfather and his siblings referred to Isham's wife as Nellie. I am just discovering a connection to South Carolina and Perhaps an Isham Rumph there. There also appears to be a connection to a Doctor James D. Rumph who migrated from SC to AL. Oh by the way, I am African American, but my grandfather told me that his grandfather Isham was a very light skinned man who could almost pass for a white man. If there are any dots that can be connected in what I've shared, please let me know. Thank you.
