Ruhls from Pennsylvania to Iowa

Can someone tell me which county in Pennsylvania they are likely to have come from? I am thinking (judging from 1840 census returns that it was York or Lancaster). He and wife were born in PA, apparently in Illinois by 1865 and in Iowa by 1866, though he doesn't appear in the Iowa (or in any other state as far as I can see) census for 1870. I may have him in Illinois in 1860. I have searched from both HeritageQuestOnline and probably Ancestry indices but haven't browsed extensively. I am deliberately not mentioning his first name since I'm doing this as a gift for a friend. It's ok to respond to me here or to my email address. Thanks for any help!
