George Ruggles came to the US before the Mayflower????

Ok, I'm not much of a historian, but if George Ruggles died in Massachusetts in 1616 (as I keep seeing) wouldn't that mean that he came before the Mayflower in 1620? Is that right? I feel like such a moron, but I did go to public school in Illinois, so that could explain my ignorance. Does anyone know how they got here?
