Hello Lesley

I have:
1861 Cenus
James F. Rugg 4 yrs in Poplar and with him Ladia De Rugg 30 yrs Poplar. James was born in Yoxford Ladia De is a badly written Lydia Ann

Borough of TOWER HAMLETS, EAST LONDON, I cannot read the Street.

JAMES F. RUGG, SON, 4 yrs, SCHOLAR, Born SUFFOLK YOXFORD

LIDIA A. RUGG, WIFE 30yrs,
Occupation MARINER WIFE BORN SUFFOLK YOXFORD.

Lydia was the wife of James Rugg, they were married at All Saints Church Isleworth 13 March 1854. James was a servant at the time. He was not on the 1861 census, so could have been at sea. Is he one of your Ruggs you are searching for? We have no record of his birth or death. Lydia and son James arrived in Sydney Dec 1866 on the Matuara, via Panama. James snr could have been a crew member???

Where are you? We are at Wyee NSW Australia. Hope we are after the same family.
Kind regards
Joanne Flack
