Hello Renee;

I do know that there are quite a few sets of Ruffins from Choctaw County, you'll find them in communities such as Pushmataha, Lisman, Yantley, Butler, Jachin, Cromwell, Marshtown, Fordtown, Butler, Halsell,. Elias Ruffin was originally from Whynot Ms. Which is just across the Ala/Ms State line. Have you ever been there? Most of my people are buried in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetary which is on County Rd. 46 Yantley Ala, a couple of miles up the road from the church. The old Pleasant Hill Church used to sit near the gate of the cemetary. I have heard the name Dock Ruffin, I am not sure of the relations, but I will ask my relatives to enlighten me. Where did you find the census records?

We should talk.
