Am researching the bennett family in Virginia, MD, NC, GA and LA. I do have some information on the ruffin family.
Robert Ruffin (1712-1767), will March 28, 1767. Married Anne Bennett daughter of Capt. William Bennett/Grace Van Courtland. Children of this marriage were:
- Faith - (B-1733)
- Anne - (B-1737) married Arthur Smith of Halifax Co., NC; 11 children
- Olivia - (B-1735) married William Barrow of Edgecomb Co, NC; (son of Dr. William Barrow, Northampton Co, NC); 8 children
- William - Bertie Co, NC married Sarah Hill daughter of Capt. Richard Hill/Margery Gilliam

Would be interested in info. on Capt. William Bennett and William Barrow son of William/Olivia Ruffin Barrow who apparently was the first to migrate to West Feliciana Parish, La in the late 18th or early 19th cent.
William Ruffin embarked from Gravesend, Eng. 7/24/1635 on "Assurance", master Isaac Bramwell;
