Dear Mona,

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays...and thanks for sending me the "w32.badtrans" virus this past monday. It's all right, I know you didn't mean to. I got it from another researcher too. My Rude-List group on rootsweb finished our NJ research and have moved on to Pennsylvania where we recently hired another professional researcher. Hoping to have a report by early January. My database on descendants of Noah, which is a healthy two-thirds of my Rude data base now encompasses approx. 7,500 descendants. I have gone back and added copius documentation, multiple census entries, war records, reference sources, published genealogies, etc. In printed format in FTM Genealogy Report it's almost as thick as your book. I'll send you a disc with my complete file after I update what our PA researcher finds. I'm wondering if you can tell me how to merge two family files in FTM. Somehow I got confused one day and saved into a new file name. Before I figured out what had happened, I'd added about 300 new individuals so one file has about 17,400 names and the other 17,100. They're 99% the same but I don't want to reenter 300 names and I'm not entirely certain who they were since I jump around so much. If you use FTM (I have vers. 8.0) and can give me a step by step on how to merge these files I'd really appreciate it. I've got the manual but can't find how in there. The "Append" command makes you add one name at a time and you have to know which names to move from file "A" to file "B" which doen't help me. Hope you can help. Ross
