Searching in Ruddle's Mill

I am wondering if anyone can help me. I know I am descended from George Ruddle Mock, who was son of Geo Mock and Diana Ruddle. He was born most
likely in Ruddle's Mills, about 1820.

My problem is Diana. Who is she? I have so much conflicting info from several sources, that I don't know what's up. I think various researches have confused Georges. Popular opinion is that her father was one of them.

I have her birth listed in
KY, unknown county - which is likely correct (verified in a census), but date is questionable. The most commonly cited is abt 1785, making her 10
years older than her husband, but it works. I think 1795 is late, although possible.

Most sources say her father is "George Ruddle" - including sources from that time... We can eliminate Geo b. 1758 son of Isaac, since none of his six children listed in his estate are named Diana. Several sources say it is Geo b. 1740, son of John and Mary. If so,
who is her mother??

Several researchers have in their records her mother as Mary Goare. Mary cannot be the wife of George son of Isaac, because he was married to Theodocia. One source says that this marriage of George (son of Isaac) to Mary GOARE took place in 1786, making Diana's birth before then unlikely. As far as his former wife, Magdelena Byrd, it's possible. But
there is no evidence that any child was named Diana.

Now....hang onto your hats. I have also been told her mother was one Sally
Moser/Masoner. The marriage records for Bourbon Co say "George Ruddle" married Sally Masoner in 1828. But Diana was born long before. . . probably 1784-95.

And finally. . . did any George have a wife named Elizabeth Preston? This comes from
the DAR application that was granted in 1925. The woman applying cited his
wife's name and her ancestor as Elizabeth Preston.

Any ideas? I am frantic to know how Diana is related to the Ruddles and how
she came to be living at the fort by the time her son was born. It's
evident that the Mock family was living there too by then. Diana may well
have been born there.

I have yet to find a definitive list of the children of George son of John, and Mary Goare. Is there one anywhere?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I need to sleep at night again! Ha ha. Email me at - just request to be unspammed. :)
