Will of George Ruddell, dtd 4 Feb 1846, Probated 11 Nov 1846.
Believing that I am soon to leave this vale
of tears for another better world, it is
my will and desire after my death that my
brother Theodorick M. Ruddell of
Montgomery County, Alabama to be the
guardian of all my children, to control &
manage all their property from the estate
of their relatives.
It is my wish and desire that my mother
Harriet Ruddell to have & keep my sons
John Henry and George Mortfort [?]
Ruddell until they are twenty-one years
It is my further wish an desire that my
mother-in-law Sarah Greenwood to have &
keep my daughters Frances Rebecca and
Harriet Elizabeth Ruddell during her
natural life, and at her death my mother
Harriet Ruddell if living is to have
them, and if not then my cousin Sarah G
Maferd [?] is to have them until their
It is my further wish that all my property
to be kept together until my youngest
child gets married or becomes 21, then
the property to be equally divided
amongst them all.
