Has any male Rudd (Reed/Read/Reid) who is out of Burlingham Rudd taken the DNA test? We have a male Davidson whose overall Davidson family "traces back" to Anson Co., NC by the 1780s or so, but when he took the DNA test, his only matches were to several men named Reed (note: this Davidson man's earliest PROVEN "Davidson" ancestor was born circa-1810). I note that both Burlingham Reed "Senior" and "Junior" were shown on the 1790 Anson census, and I can't help but wonder if there was a "non-paternity event" there (i.e., an adoption, an "affair" or a name change) that "caused" the above "result."
The family of the referenced Davidson donor left Anson and moved to Hickman Co., TN...and later to McNairy Co., TN. Per the various censuses, I note that there were also some Reeds in each of those two counties, well into the 1800s (at the same times that the Davidsons were also in those counties), but I certainly do not know if those Reeds were from the same overall "blood related" family as Burlingham Rudd/Reed. I also do not know if the existing Reed DNA donors who "match" the referenced Davidson donor are from the same family as Burlingham...but none of them seem to trace their lines back to Anson Co., NC (nor "claim" anyone named "Burlingham" in their lines).
We had expected the above Davidson DNA donor to match the several existing matching Davidson/Davison DNA donors who "trace back" to John and Ann (Sons/Soanes) Davison who were in Prince Edward Co., VA by the 1740s ("Family 5" at www.davidsongenes.org), and we know that several members of that Davidson/Davison family left VA and moved to Anson Co., NC in the mid-late-1700s.
If there is no current DNA donor out of Burlingham's line, then it seems that is a big "missing link" in the research for that man's family. Are there any known living Rudd/Reed/Reid/Read males from that line who could be tested? Comments? Thanks.
