Hi Gary,

I need more information to know if there is a connection between your Ruckman's and mine.

Where was your grandfather born? What is his wife's name and where was she born. Do you know the names of any of Jesse's siblings, when (approximate year) and state they were born in, Also the first names of their spouses. (I don't like to ask for the surnames for this generation to protect the privacy of living relatives. This is a sensitive issue with many and deserves consideration from researchers. And, as a researcher, there is personal information about me and my family that I don't want my cousins, known and unknown, making public while my sibling and I are still living.)

What else do you know about William L. Ruckman besides his birthdate. What was the name of his wife and what do you know about her?

Have you checked any census records? If you haven't others may help you out if you give then information needed to help them find and identify the family.

I started researching my family lines back in the late 1990's and most of my information I have gathered has come from the internet and/or cousins I met throught the internet.

One of the most important things I have learned is that cousins DO Not recognize my ancestors. They recognize the names and information about their ancestors that I included in my posting. An anology I like to makeis: Learning about my family is like fishing: The more lines (recognizable names and info) I put in the water, the more fish I catch (responses I get). And it usually takes time for someone to find the message.

You might like to check out my posting history. By reading my rearch on my Moser and Ruckman lines you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. By reading the research I've done for others just to help them you will see the kinds of information I had to work with. Helping others is how I have learned to research my own family. None of the people I helped that were not related to me asked me for help. I picked them myself from Genforum and the Rootsweb Lists that I belonged to.

Good Luck,
Marilyn
