Hi, Christian,
I'm interested in knowing about the French Ruch websites. Also, do you know where I can find French Navy records from the late 1700s and early 1800s. My husband's grandfather Joseph N. Ruch, who settled in Philadelphia, in the early to mid 1800s, reportedly was the son of a sailor in the French Navy. Family oral history says the Ruch family (pronouced ROOSH in the French manner) came from Alsace. We are headed for Alsace this year to see the old homeland, but I have been unsuccessful in locating the exact area where our Ruches originated. My husband's branch stayed in Philadelphia and does not seem to be connected to other Ruch families in eastern Pa.
Thanks for your help.
