Thomas Rubottom originally came from Wales.
He was born in 1744 and arrived in the US in the 1750's. As far as family research indicates, the name was not "Rubottom" in Wales. It has been defined as meaning: "the place in the dell where deer graze". It is usually considered a low lying area near a stream. The researchers have been unable to find Rubottoms in Wales. However, a possibility is "Rowbotham".
