I did a little surfing tonight and found some info that is basically a long-shot, but worth a try. I checked FamilySearch.org and found listings for Rubottoms in Whitchurch, Glamorgan, Wales near our Thomas Rubottom's birth period. So, I checked out the Glamorgan pages that are listed on Cyndi's list. Found some outstanding websites. There was one webpage that offered one name lookups. One entry said: Robotham names in St Fagans, Llanedeyn & Radyr [extracted from Limbus Patrum Morganiae et Glamorganiae ]. I have written to the lookup with a request for Rubottom info (esp. Thomas) in the 1740 time period. Will let you know when I receive a response. But, now we know there are definitely Robothams in Glamorgan, Wales. I will keep searching.
