Hello Linda,
I'm Izaskun from Bilbao, Basque Country- Spain. Here we have more than one last name. In fact, we have as many as we can remember. My mom's dad, was Tomas Rubin de Celis, thaī's because my second last mane is Rubin de Celis. Tomas was from Santurce. Itīs a little town near Bilbao. Bilbao it's on yhe north of Spain, near France.
We didnīt know much about our family. I know that there's a very little town in Asturias (state of the north of Spain) called Rubin, where this last name is quite usual. Rubin is the most usual, but Rubin the Celis are very few.
Someone told us, this name belonged to someone very important long long time ago (somethin like many centuries)
I canīt tell you anything else.
