I was previously using Generations 5.2 which was the successor to Reunion for the PC. Since it is no longer being supported, I have started looking to see where I can go for continued support.
I was thinking about TMG because it seems to be highly rated and very comprehensive in what it can do. Unfortunately, they do not have a demo version that you can play with so I wasn't able to get a feel for it. The other thing that worries me is that Wholly Genes has not released an upgrade for over two years. They are expected to release version 5 soon, but no definite word yet when it will come out. The interface for version 4 seems very clunky to me.
In the meantime, I have been playing around with Legacy - which has a standard version available for free at www.legacyfamilytree.com and the deluxe version is only $20. Some of the charts require a separate charting companion for an additional cost, but at least you can buy what you want/need. The interface reminds me a lot of Reunion which is one of the reasons I like it. Plus the publisher, Millennia, seems to be very responsive and listens to the users regarding bug fixes and additional features. You might as well give the free version a try and see what you think.
