The 1850 Census for Harrison County, Mississippi, shows three households for Rosier (Rozier) living as neighbors. There is the 67 year old Elizabeth Rosier living with 27 year old John & 23 year old Sarah Rosier in addition to Miss Milbury Smith, 18, that John married in 1851. The next door household has Daniel Rosier, 33, living with Mary, 27, and three children. Just down the road is Jesse Rosier, 37, living with Margaret Rosier, 35, and five children. The head of all three households list South Carolina as their birth state.
From their ages and listed birth state, it appears this Rosier group moved from South Carolina to Mississippi between 1818 and 1822. The relationship of the Mother, Elizabeth Rosier, living with and near three sons is assumed at this point. Naturally, she may have had other sons & daughters not living in the neighborhood or under married names not known to date.
Elizabeth is listed as head of household in the 1840 Census Index for Hancock County, MS. She was likely living in the same place since Harrison County was formed in 1841, after the 1840 census and before the 1850 census, from sections of Handcock & Jackson counties.
Sure would like to know if this Elizabeth could be connected with Isham Rozier?
Thanks, Travis Lehman travis@safe-order.com
