William,

I have the following deed abstract:

Northampton Co., NC, DB 1, p. 499, 24 Aug 1751: “David Rozar and Elizabeth Dansby of Edgecombe Co. to John Jones of Northampton Co. £20. 200 acres, joining the Falling run and John Spann, part of a patent to Daniel Dansby the 20 __ 1745. Wit: John Morris, George Norwood, Anne Norwood. Aug Ct 1751.”

What's interesting here are the witnesses - “a” George Norwood m. Winney Rives, dau. of Benjamin Rives (d. 1790, Greensville Co., NC).

Another of Benjamin Rives’ daughters, Betty, married David Rosser, son of John Rosser & Elizabeth of Sussex Co., VA > Brunswick Co., VA / Greensville Co., VA.

I haven't looked in Granville Co., NC, for members of the ROSSER (pick-a-spelling) family, but the first sighting I've found of David Rozer was on 23 Jan 1734, when he purchased land in Bertie Co., NC, from John Spann (Spain ?) & wife Mary. The deed abstract I have of this transaction doesn't give David Rozer's residence at the time of purchase.
