Hello Charlie, I'm afraid I do not know the connection between the Royston and Harris families. I went back through all of my notes.....as Brandy Springs was an area in which much of my Johnson/Comely family lived..the same families with various Royston connections.
I can not give you any real clues regarding Mack's parents...but I can tell you of a few Harris families that were in that area and neighbors to the Comely, Johnson, and Royston family; I hope you can find some clue in this info;
1850 Garrard County census;
William G. Harris 61 farmer $6390 VA
Elizabeth 59 TN
Trye S. 24
Margaret 29
Nancy 23
Margaret HILL 66

1850 Garrard County census
Elemuel Harris 45 toll gate keeper
Eliza 39
Nancy 17
Jane 16
Elzina 14
Mary 11
James 8

Now, in 1920, Garrard County, there was an African-American Harris family living in the area of Drakes Creek..not far from Brandy Springs. This family is listed as such;
Harris, William head MB 40 M KY KY KY
Mary wife FB 37 M " " "
Willie son MB 13 S " " "
Kelly, Harrett M.I.L. FB 70 WD KY KY KY
This family lived next door to my Great-Grandpa...and I believe my father knew them......if they are of any connection, he may be able to help you with some info...
Happy Hunting!
