John, don't know if had read this before or not. I didn't find a will for Hardy M Royster. John seemed to have plenty of money when he came here. That has been a point of discussion in the family for a long time. I looked up the tax list for this family in Meigs Co TN. and found some interesting and hard to explain the valuation and tax paid for Joseph and Phoebe Burtram. Her parents died before 1850 and her younger siblings lived with Joseph and Phoebe and Joseph died in 1853 and Phoebe died in 1856. I don't know what happened to those children or to Phoebe and Joseph's children John b 1848 and Mary Jane Royster b 1849. John showed up in Miller Co. MO. between 1856 and 1859. He showed on 1860 census of Miller, later moved to Wright Co. His only other brother died in 1863 in the Civil War, I have been in contact with this family and they don't know anything about it. They didn't know what happened to John. It just don't seem like John would have left unless there was something very wrong. Joseph and Phoebe had 160 acres with a valuation of $50.00 in 1848. In 1849 they had 520 acres valuation of $2500.00 must have been some good land. By 1851 they were down to 155 acres. Seems John left sometime during all of this. Have you seen the names of John and Mary Jane Royster children of Joseph and Phoebe?
