Royster Family Genealogy Forum

I know a fair amount about your grandfather Royster's family. In fact , I think he lived in Lexington when I first moved here in the late 1940s. My brother, who was attending Asbury College nearby, talked with him. I believe he worked for Jett's Appliances. Anyway. I talked with his wife by phone occasionally and I believe your uncle attended UK where I was teaching.Your grandfather's father was as you said Greene Royster. His father was John W.Royster.John's father was David Morrison Royster who was a brother to my great grandfather Thomas Wilkins Royster. David M. and Thomas W. were sons of Wilkins Royster who moved from Mecklenburg Co.VA to the southern part of Henderson Co.,Ky ( not far from Madisonville) in about 1818. Wilkin's father was Joseph Royster and his mother was Elinor Wilkins. That is as far back as I,and I think most everyone else, have hard data. Roysters came into the tidewater section of Virginia in the 1600s and in the records quite a bit in the 1700s.There is some evidence and are some conjectures as to the lineage, but difficult to trace. If you are interested further, email me and I will give you my phone number. Wimberly
