Hi Christy,

I don't know about the name Garret, but I believe you're correct about Burgess. In looking at a site concerning Royse City, I see that a G. B. Royse married a Nan McCasland. On Ancestry, the marriage index shows this:

Name: B. G. Royse
Marriage Date: 8 Aug 1880
Spouse: Nancy McCasland
Marriage County: Rockwall
Marriage State: Texas
Source: Texas Marriages, 1814-1909

A Family Tree on Rootsweb shows his name as Garrett Burgess Griffin Royse.

In 1900, Burgess G., Nancy A. & their children reside in Custer Co., Wachita, OK. Burgess born Jan 1837 in KY & Nancy born Sep 1860 in TX. Also, the children in the household were born in TX.
