Roybal's in Spain

I did some research and found a Roybal as far back as mid 1700's who came from Spain, but had a daughter in New Mexico. It seems they came from the Northwestern corner of Spain near Portugal.I was also told that the name had French origins. My grandmother always claimed to be part French and she was a Roybal-Ortiz from Penasco.I also found that the oldest families in New Mexico were Roybal, Vigil, Ortega, Ortiz, Martinez. It seems they all had huge families. Many Roybals have all these names in their family tree and on both sides!!!I have also heard that the name was changed and connected to Roibal.I have many cousins in New Mexico, Wyoming, California and Colorado. There is a longevity in the family. My great-aunt Sara lived to 99 and Pilar lived to 101-102.
