Rowletts of VA
For anyone interested:Frank Byron Rowlett, b. 5/2/1908, Rose Hill, VA., d. 6/29/1998,was a descendant of John Rowlett, b. ca. 1709, Will dated 10/23/1776, Prince Edward Co, VA. Frank Rowlett was credited with breaking the Japanese code during WW2.My copy of article from "Louisville Courier Journal," KY, dated 1965: He was presented with the highest medal of honor by Pres. Johnson, "The National Security Medal," second ever given. 1st was to Allen Dulles, CIA. (Next time you watch the old movie "Battle at Midway", and the military send's a coded message that Water is needed for the American men, in reality, action taken by Japanese as a response to that message is when US actually discovered Frank Rowlett had broken the Japanese code.) Be proud if he is in your line of Rowletts. It's worth bragging about!
