My mother is Mary Rowlands, daughter of Samuel Rowlands (brother of Daniel Rowlands). The brothers were part of an Angelsey (N. Wales) family and were always told that they were related to J M Stanley through his mother. The brothers were born circa turn of the century. My grandfather, Samuel, fought at Gallipoli.I understand that my uncle Allan Rowlands - who like my mother was born in Chester - before he died he did extensive family research that backed up the brothers story of being related to the woman reputed to be Stanley's mother. The story being that the child was illegitimate (his mothers surname being Rowlands), and ended up in Liverpool and then taken to the US by a Mr. Stanley. I will endeavour to find more information.
