I grew up in Dovercourt, Essex.
I don't know much about the family history.
My Dad is Herbert Reginald Rowland, b27/6/1930
I believe that my Grandad was a Joseph Herbert Rowland. Died a long time ago and dad does not talk about him.
Recently discovered through 2 American Rowlands visiting my home Church (The Salvation Army, Harwich)that part of the family, William Rowland and his son, John Thomas Edward Rowland, emigrated from Harwich to Canada in 1912. Many of the descendants still living in Canada and the southern & Central states on the USA. Many of the Rowlands in the USA are still members of The Salvation Army.
We didn't know that they existed, but there is no doubt that they are related to my family (Can't work out exact relationship). I have seen thier pictures. They are the spitting image of my Dad
