Sorry, but Abram (aka Abraham) E Rowden is not the son of William but rather his brother Nathaniel Harrison Rowden.
For some years some of the Rowden family researchers have believed that Abram was the son of William and Mary Levina (Pruitt) Rowden for the reason that he Abram lived in Jersey Co IL where other Rowden's lived. However, they never sought out William's will/probate record which is on file in Greene Co IL.A few years ago another Rowden family researcher and I communicated.I let her know that I had reservations about Abram being William's son and that in talking to some of William's descendants that none ever mentioned Abram as being his son.She was also trying to track down all of Nathaniel's children and had not yet identified them. She was able to track down William's will/probate which clearly proved Abram was not one of William's children.William's children were named and the name Abram was not among them. Also in looking at the 1820 census, she nor I could find any evidence that Abram might have been William's son.Knowing who William's children were, they were all accounted for with no extras in the 1820 census and the 1830 census. She then looked at the other Rowden family data and discovered that Abram was the son of Nathaniel who had married at least 4 times and had 23 children.Abram's mother was Nathaniel's 1st wife Nancy Crain.
At time of the find not many of Abram's descendants were pleased.I think perhaps because some may have joined or had intentions of joining the DAR using the Pruitt line through Mary Levina since her grandfather and gr-grandfather served in the Revolutionary War at the Battle of King's Mountain.
